Our club is adapting to Sport Canada’s new long term athlete development (LTAD) model that promotes a healthy physically fit nation where people participate in lifelong physical activity.

Rabbit Program (Age 4-14)
The Rabbit program is designed to introduce young children to the sport of cross country skiing and to develop and promote the fundamentals of being active for life. Balance, rhythm, coordination and play on snow are just some of the fundamental skills for children to learn at an early age. There are three main groups in this program:

  • Bunny Rabbits (Age 4-5)
  • Rabbits & Extended Rabbits (Age 6-14)

See side panel for more detail.

Junior Development (Age 10-18+)
An opportunity for older skiers to develop
technique, increase physical fitness and explore
the many facets of cross country skiing including
backcountry and competition. Skiers can join at
any age and are grouped according to ability.

  • Track Attack (Age 10-13)
  • Multi-Sport or Ski Focus (Age 14-18+)

See side panel for more detail.

Skiers begin with fitness activities in the fall and
then get on snow as early as possible. There is an
increased emphasis on competitive experiences
at this level, such as the BC Cup Series and BC
Winter Games, but racing is optional in the
Track Attack and Multi-Sport programs. The
Ski Focus Program is for skiers who want a
comprehensive, year-round training program to
prepare for top-level racing.

Biathlon (Age 9-18+)
For skiers who want to add shooting at a target to the challenge of the sport! There are 3 groups in this program:

  • Biathlon Bears (Age 9-13)
  • Junior Development (Age 14-18)
  • Masters (Age 18+)

See side panel for more detail.
