The new Gary Murdoch Memorial Waxing Hut is looking very nice, a huge THANKS to the crew who have been devoting their weekends to the project. Also, the new addition to the lodge for the washrooms is coming along nicely, again, great work by the volunteers. Check back for dates of the Fall Work Bees…
The area has officially stopped operations for the season, though the trails are never closed. Occasional tracksetting may be performed….
AGM set for April 21 in the Lodge – all members encouraged to attend.

LIGHTS are turned off for the season, as our daylight hours now extend into the early evening.
ANNUAL SKI FUNDRAISER A BIG THANK YOU to Peter & Jill at McBike Sport & Ski for hosting the team relay on Sunday March 8. There were over 70 participants – they skied a combined 1800 km (that’s 360 laps of the 5km loop) and raised over $3,000 to help finish the Gary Murdoch Memorial Wax Hut. Five individuals each managed to ski 100 km. Teresa White capped the event with a 150 km ski starting the evening before
Everyone enjoyed a great Potluck Dinner with draw prizes after.

February 25th will be the last Masters session for the 2009 season. Come join us for the last lesson of the year followed as usual by the hot apple cider social, only this week it will have some added “zest”. See you there!

Celebrate Buchfink Lodge Day Sunday February 1st Breakfast of pancakes and waffles will be served from 9:30 am to 11:30 by the Club Directors.
Biathlon News
Three athletes from the Bulkley Valley headed to Quesnel for BC Biathlon Cup races 3 & 4. Kaylon Kallio and Cody Askew were attending their first Biathlon race and Angus Tweedie was racing his first race as a Juvenile.
On the first day, a sprint race, everyone had a hard time on the range, especially Cody as he had to borrow an adults rifle as he had miss placed the firing pin for his bolt. The boys finished 6, 7 and 8th.The second day, an individual race, saw their shooting improve and Cody had his own rifle back. Cody placed 2nd, Kaylon 4th and Angus 8th. At the awards ceremony, Angus received his BC Cup as 1st overall in the midget category for the previous season.Everyone had a good time.
Next race is a fun race in Vanderhoof on February 15.

This is Spirit of BC week – as British Columbians look ahead to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler in February 2010. Join our local celebration and share the excitement!
Masters Ski continues on Wednesdays, at 7 pm. Come out to improve your classic or skate skiing, and stay for the apple cider social afterwards! For more information, go to the Masters page found under “Programs”.

New this year – day passes will be sold at the lodge on weekends and holidays. Self serve ticketing is also available.
Please wear you seasons passes so they are visible, there will be ticket checkers out on trails starting this weekend.
Construction projects are progressing well – thanks to all the volunteers who are giving many building days.
The new post & beam building is the GARY MURDOCH MEMORIAL WAXING HUT. The new addition to the lodge is to house washrooms, this project includes a well and expanded lagoon.
ANNUAL SKI SWAP & CLUB PIE SOCIAL Oct 17 – St Joe’s Gym.
WORK BEE October 4 including trail brushing, lodge clean-up and construction projects. There will be a job for anyone who comes up to help.
Work Bee on September 13 made good progress on the construction projects and trail brushing. Thanks to everyone who came out to help!
