Brunch and Punch Ski

Every year, on the last Sunday in January, the Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club observes Buchfink Family Memorial Ski Lodge Day and celebrates the lives of the Buchfink family. The Buchfink Family embodied participation in Nordic skiing, community, and sport. Gary, Linda, Brodie, and Molly are remembered in the pictures showcased in the Lodge and in the memories of all who knew them.
This year, on January 29, 2012, Buchfink Lodge Day will be celebrated with:

  • Pancake/waffle brunch served up by your club executive from 9:30 to 11:00 am
  • Punch Ski starting at 11:30 am
  • Hot drinks and prizes at 1:00 pm

How the Punch Ski works
When you register, you will be given a punch card with hints about the locations of 8 punch stations. Ski with family and friends to find the stations and punch your card at each station. (Take a trail map.) The Punch Ski is not a speed race. Ski at your own pace and collect as many punches as you have time and stamina for. Some of the punches are on the dog trails for those who want to have their dog sniff out dog trail punch stations.

Get back to the lodge before noon and receive one paper slip for each different punch on your card. Write your name on the slips and drop them into the prize buckets that you qualify for. Prizes will be given to the names drawn from each bucket. Bucket categories are semi-random and so are the prizes.

Registration:
Register at the Brunch upstairs at the lodge before 11:30.

  • Members: $5 person or $10 for a family
  • Non-members: $10 per person or $20 per family which includes a trail-pass for the day.
