About The Ski S'Kool Program

We are grateful to the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation (BVCF) who has awarded the BV Nordic Ski S’Kool program a $21,000 grant over three years - 2023-24 is the third of three years.  This sponsorship will go towards lowering the fees to students as well as covering program costs.  THANK YOU!

Ski S’Kool is an outreach program offered by the Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club, in partnership with local elementary schools, where students in Kindergarten to Grade 7 have the opportunity to discover the beautiful sport of cross country skiing.

The trails at the Bulkley Valley Nordic Centre are well suited to the beginner’s ability and provide a beautiful setting for a healthy outing.  This is an awesome, FUN, addition to the elementary school physical education component.  Some students become interested in other programs the club offers such as Rabbits or Track Attack.

Since it’s inception sixteen years ago, thousands of students have enjoyed this inclusive program, progressing at their own comfort level.  In the last seven years, Ski S’Kool had an average of 460 individual students per year from seven schools in the Bulkley Valley taking part in the program, with a 1 to 10, certified coach to student ratio.  Most classes attend three sessions per season with lessons offered on Tuesday and Wednesday - both morning and afternoon - and Thursday morning.  Skis and boots are provided for students in Kindergarten to Grade 4.

Classes may be booked for skiing/snowshoeing without lessons.
